As you may have deduced from its name, The Getaway is a variation on a daiquiri made with dark rum and cynar that gives the drink density while maintaining a light airiness. In non-bartender speak: it tastes like maple syrup in cocktail form. It’s hard to imagine that a drink could be both rich and crisp, but somehow The Getaway manages to capture those cocktail triumphs for a success in and of itself.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz black strap rum
  • 1 oz lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup (For a richer simple syrup use 2 parts sugar, 1 part water and don’t cook the sugar. This doesn’t make the mixture twice as sweet, but gives it more tecture.)
  • 0.5 oz cynar

Procedure

1.) Pour ingredients into shaker with ice.

2.) Use short and vigorous shakes to get the mixture very frothy.

3.) Pour into glass.
