Named after the Greek God, I think it’s safe to say that the Adonis at Estadio is heavenly. There’s a nice, not cloying, sweetness to the drink with a depth of flavor and brightness added by the orange bitters. This is a classic Spanish drink and a favorite of the bartender. The key, I think, is to smell the orange zest while taking sips for optimal orange-iness which is key. Not having had much experience with sherry I’m excited to go out and drink ALL of the sherry cocktails in existence. You’ll want to curl up next to a fire and drink one too many of the Adonis.
- 2.25 oz Oloroso sherry
- 1 oz sweet vermouth
- 2 dashes of Regans’ orange bitters
1.) Pour all ingredients over ice and stir until chilled.
2.) Rub the rim with the orange zest. (This way you get the essence of it as soon as it touches your lips.)
3.) Strain into glass.
4.) Garnish with orange peel.
