  • Food & Wine has announced a nationwide competition for the title of The People’s Best New Chef. Nominees include four chefs from the DC area: Kyle Bailey of Birch & Barley, Dan Giusti of 1789, David Guas of Bayou Bakery and Nicholas Stefanelli of Bibiana.   • Constantine Stavropoulos (of Tryst, the Diner & Open City) plans to combine the best features of his three restaurants in a new venture at 11th & Monroe, NW in Columbia Heights.
