We’re excited to premiere the official video of Stolen Jars’ “Eliot.” The new song is the lead track off of their upcoming Glint EP, which is coming out on April 7. A portion of the proceeds from Glint EP will go towards the Sylvia Rivera Law Project.
Here’s what the band’s front man Cody Fitzgerald had to say about the song:
I wrote “Eliot” about this idea that T.S. Eliot had. He felt that in order for an artist to be truly universal they had to completely remove themselves from the work. That’s why his poetry is so based in reference and not personal experience. But all of my music is really personal, it’s about these tiny moments in a day. And so the song is basically me wrestling with that concept and wondering if someone’s eyes in a car at night can feel as powerful as a work like The Waste Land. In that way the first song is kind of like a reflection of my writing process.
