We’re super excited to be premiering the dreamy new video for Emi Wes‘ “Five Miles” today; produced in collaboration with Robin Hannibal, the track itself is infectious in the best possible way. (We totally get that the word “infectious” is slightly controversial to use during a pandemic, but seriously, just try to not to listen on repeat. IT’S A MEGA-BOP!)
Here’s what the Danish up-and-comer told us about it:
‘Five Miles’ was written on one of my first very long stays away from home. I was young and felt the need to prove my worth to be in the studio with much older, insanely talented and more experienced people, than me. I was still living at home with my mother and all of my friends were studying and getting educations while I was stubborn working on my music in the studio, away from home, constantly working, getting better and better.
Don’t take it too seriously when things aren’t going as fast or just the way you imagined or planned. Take your time. Use the energy of being five miles below the right track to define what is right for you.
Honestly, great advice for this year in particular. Keep an eye out for her debut EP release later this fall, and in the meantime, enjoy “Five Miles” below:
