Whenever a celebrity dies all of social media falls into three camps. There are the folks who genuinely mourn the loss of someone whose worked touched them in some way. There are the people who ridicule others for caring so much about someone they never knew. Then there are the comics who immediately make a joke out of their death. I have fallen under all 3 umbrellas but today, with the death of Bob Hoskins, I am taking the first road. An 8 year-old me recalls sitting in a movie theater marveling at the fact that real people were acting with cartoons. It was wonderful and magical and I thank Bob Hoskins for being a part of it. And of course let’s all hope that wherever he is, it’s a bit like Toon Town, at least some of it.
