You’ve probably already seen the brand-new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but very few viewers pay attention to how much thought goes into the color-tones of the series.

The remastering that the original Star Wars trilogy underwent as film made the transition to DVD (and later to Blu-Ray) upset a lot of hardcore fans. Fortunately, a dedicated community of tech-savvy Star Wars lovers labored over correcting the colors in later releases of the movies with the aim of rendering high-definition versions of the films that aesthetically remain true to the theatrical releases.

In this video, an editor going by the name Harmy explains what sources he used to reach his crisp, yet classic-looking, “despecialized edition” of the movies.
