The opening of the newest, and long overdue, Smithsonian, The National Museum of African American History and Culture, is right around the corner. However, unless you’re one of the lucky few who already has their timed entry tickets, you probably wont be getting into the museum for a few months.
Fortunately, our photographer Armando Gallardo attended the media day at the Museum and recorded his experience. He takes us through the museum from top to bottom, and while it’s not the same as actually being inside and seeing the collections yourself, it’ll get you excited. You get the idea of how expansive the collection is, and as Armando points out, you never see this many articles of African American history anywhere else. Armando’s narrative is also an added benefit to the video, and an experience in itself that you can’t find anywhere else (definitely listen to his Ben Carson narrative beginning at 13:20).
I’m just so jealous and so excited, and I’m going to book my tickets now.
