Tonight’s BYT Academy Awards Film Trivia Night at Penn Social has us thinking in a cinematic way. Why isn’t there an Academy Award for best use of a pre-existing song in film? Original scores are important, but there really should be an award for re-imagining a classic song in a new setting. For example, how about this use of “In Dreams” in Blue Velvet?

Or “Wise Up” in Magnolia?

Or the best use of a pre-existing song in film of all time, “Bohemian Rhapsody” in Wayne’s World?
