We originally ran this piece on April 8, 2014, the anniversary of Twin Peaks debut on ABC. Today it was announced Twin Peaks will return to Showtime in 2016 for a nine-episode series.
I interviewed Cassie Ramone of The Vivian Girls in 2009. I was very excited to talk to a member of an up-and-coming garage rock band named after the characters of artist Henry Darger. The interview was fine. I asked Ramone what she thought of Darger’s work. She didn’t have an opinion. The band thought the name was cool, that’s all. Never saw the documentary.
Twin Peaks is a garage rock group out of Chicago. They’re great. You should listen to a song. Here’s one of their songs.
Good stuff. Since it’s Twin Peaks day on BYT, we had to ask Twin Peaks’ Cadien, do you know why you’re named Twin Peaks?
Do you know why you’re named Twin Peaks?
My brother was watching a show, shoots me a text and says, “Hey, I’m watching a show called Twin Peaks and I think you might dig it.” I say, “Hey, that’s a cool name,” and so we stole it.
Have you seen the show?
We all haven’t seen the show, I have, 3/4 of the band has. Connor will never watch it.
Why won’t he watch the show?!?
I don’t know. I think he’d enjoy it. The concept may be too much for him, he never felt like diving in, too artsy, maybe.
But you’re in a band called Twin Peaks.
I think he would like it. He just hasn’t watched it.
How old is he?
We’re all 20.
You’re all 20-years-old?
Oh, Jesus Christ, the show is older than you!
Yes, it is. We were not alive when it came out.
Why should people listen to your music?
We all have a good time together and if you like to rock and roll, you’ll like us.
