The holidays can be tough enough as is, but 2020 in particular has proven especially cruel on multiple levels. While this holds true no matter how you identify, members of the queer community may feel an exacerbated sense of gloom. Fortunately, them. has taken the reins on adding a bit of brightness and cheer with an extra-special livestream event; Chosen is set to debut on Monday, November 23rd at 8pm ET on YouTube, and as the name implies, it will be a celebration of chosen family and the LGBTQ+ community.
During the program, a selection of LGBTQ+Â artists and activists will discuss how chosen families have shaped their lives, as well as how they’re keeping their heads up this difficult season. So far, the lineup includes appearances from Bob the Drag Queen and Peppermint, Angelica Ross, Tegan and Sara, Margaret Cho, Rickey Thompson, Jari Jones and Ceyenne Doroshow, with more TBA. There will also be a special emphasis on ballroom and trans communities, showcasing their strength and resilience.
It sounds like it will be a very uplifting evening, and one that will likely merit multiple watches as we head into the new year.
