Chopteeth is a DC-based 14-piece Afrofunk orchestra, mixing Fela Kuti inspired Afrobeat, modern jazz, Yoruba tribal music, James Brown-inspired rhythms, Ghanaian dance tunes, Senegalese rumba and Jamaican ska. They just so happen to be playing the stage at U Street Music Hall this Saturday thanks to their new partnership with IMP/9:30 Club.  Now let’s take a listen to the track “Traitors of Africa” below, shall we?

TO WIN A PAIR OF TICKETS just tell us: the best song to feature a saxophone in your expert and ever so humble opinion.  Me? I’m pretty biased by the bari-sax (which I played in the 7th & 8th grade, ladies and gentlemen) in the middle of this Menomena track. Winner will be selected on Friday! Use a real email address when you comment!
