“Just give me moments. Not hours or days.”
Since I’m in London for the week (!!!) I’ve decided all the videos will be from awesome English bands that I will never not love. (Heyyo double negative!) First up? Bloc Party. Back in 2003 Bloc Party blasted on the music scene and took down everyone in their path. With their post-punk revival vibrato, they taught influences like Mogwai, Radiohead, The Cure, Sonic Youth and of course… Joy Division. What can I say? From first listen of “Price of Gasoline” I was hooked.
Today’s jam, Waiting for the 7:18, is the quintessential song about being young and in love in London. The line above, “Just give moments. Not hours or days” quickly became one of my favorites and Kele Okereke’s vocal deliver it with a sincere, almost longing edge. Not to mention, the mastermind drum tactics of Matt Tong will always impress these ears (both live and on record). So here it is:
