A holiday weekend is coming. There’s no better time than to pack up, get out of D.C. and climb a mountain. Or at least walk on a trail in a National Park. Let’s be reasonable.

This free event will help expose you to the best trails in the best park within a 3 hour drive from D.C. Shenandoah is a treasure and should be treated as such. I’ve visited a half dozen times and will go on many, many, many more trips. I’ve barely scratched the surface and understand I will never be an expert. So I should heed the advice from experts, NPS rangers. They’ll be educated the masses at the REI Community Space at Wunder Garten.
You like to stretch, right? You like the National Mall, right? How about things that glow? Sure. Illumination is helpful. End August going something you’ve never done, Glow Yoga on the National Mall.
While this isn’t strenuous, you will walk a few miles during the Grapes With Apes event at the National Zoo. Drink wine, look at animals and stretch out your calf muscles.
Another non-strenuous event. It’s a holiday weekend, remember? For those of you still playing Pokemon Go, head to Old Town Alexandria for a LURE A THON. It’s a chance to meet other people that don’t have security concerns.
I’ve never been camping. I’d like to go camping. I refuse to go camping without knowledge of the basics. This class should help.
If you can’t find your way out of D.C. this holiday weekend, visit one of our overlooked parks. See them on a jog or take a stroll over before laying down a mat for yoga. Our new feature, D.C.’s Underrated Parks, will be helpful.
