It’s hot and miserable and none of us want to go outside, but that doesn’t matter. You have to go out and breath some fresh air. You have to move your body. D.C.’s weather might be horrific, but it really is a lovely city with so many goddamn green spaces. So don’t let the heat index push you around. Fight back.

TUESDAY (2)

Campfire Chat Series: Diversity In The Outdoors

Okay, so this is not a exercise focused outdoor activity, but it’s important nonetheless. Head to the Wunder Garten to enjoy beer, smores, and a conversation lead by organizations like Outdoor Afro, Latino Outdoors, and more. This will not make you a better person, but it couldn’t hurt.

WEDNESDAY (3)

Yoga at the Marina

Yoga is great, but you know whats better? Doing yoga by the water. Get in the zone and pretend you’re nowhere near D.C. Not to mention the breeze coming off the water might make you feel a little bit better. No prior experience is necessary, but you will need to bring your own mat because that’s usually how these kinds of things work. You will feel better about life after this. I promise.

THURSDAY (2)

Pacers Running Joggers and Lagers at Port City Brewing Company

Maybe you’re more of active person? Maybe you prefer your runs to start and end with a beer? Then make a trip to Port City Brewing on Thursday for their evening run with Pacers Running. Depending on your experience / activity level there are 1, 3 or 5 mile runs through a nearby park. Afterward… or before… or both… get yourself a sweet beer from Port City and try on some new running shoes.  Sweet sweet capitalism.

FRIDAY (2)

Wander Around Rock Creek Cemetery

This is an independent activity, but if you wanted to grab a bunch of friends and make it a group effort, that’s cool too. Rock Creek Cemetery is one of D.C.s’ most beautiful cemeteries. There are trees and a little mini lake and hills and everything you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of the living. Not to mention, it holds some local famous folk, like Edgar Allen Poe’s sister, Supreme Court justices, and Upton Sinclair. It’s deeply cool and only a little spooky. I promise.

Hate animals? Prefer the solitude of nature? Our HIKING GUIDE will definitely help you find a reasonable alternative.
