This is Shannon and Shona bringing you some BYT intern hustle with a list of some of our favorite footwear from 2010.
You are about to experience a top ten list of sneakers we have seen out and about or online that have sparked greedy pangs of yearning. We included nothing we already own (god bless those skytops) just to keep as close to a wish list as possible. Obviously you can see our tastes quite definitely in this selection… so if you feel we are missing out on something important then leave a comment with your picks and show us up!
Without further ado- Shannon’s picks are in BLUE and Shona’s picks are in RED.
1. Knoll x Vans Mountain Edition LX
There are tons of different editions of these stompers. But I am basically just hardcore digging the ones that are waterproof nylon and not so much the random plaids or suede editions. Seems like its time to be totally over suede by the way. Vans Vault has teamed up with Knoll Textiles and made these Mountain Edition LX midtops and high tops that are convincingly outdoorsy. These are going to be first on the list since I’ve been thinking about them for months and months. Too bad santa just doesn’t get me. These seem so useful even if I totally don’t get the purpose of the Velcro part.
The Mountain Edition Vans are usually about $110 but they are out of my favorite colors here.
2. Volta AW Boot-Vintage Blu
Now here is a classy goddamned sneaker. They call them boots and think that even adds class. Volta is Italian and therefore keeping me from easily purchasing these in “Vintage Blue” (a terrible tragedy). Too classy to obtain I guess. These series of boots for fall/winter 2010 kick it up a freakin notch with a whole bunch of attractive colorways. Like delicious browns and tans in suede and leather… all with that made-in-Italy swagger.
The volta fall/winter boot is usually about 110 pounds.
3. Y-3 Honja High
These are basically just expensive soccer shoes with shiny studs? Ok well sign me up! Of course I have an immediate desire for the high tops… but the lows are sort of nice I guess. I bet as soon as you put these on groupies would show up. They are made of leather with a pigskin lining “for comfort” so they aren’t particularly vegan-friendly, but we can let that slide. These kicks are from that collaborative line of Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto, Y-3. Oh and totally affordable on sale!
The stud pack high tops have been marked down from $290 to $203.
4. Married to the Mob x Reebok Double Bubble Freestyle Hi-tops
I personally am a huge fan of Married to the Mob so when I found out they collaborated with Reebok to create a pair of sneakers I knew it was going to be dope, especially after seeing previous sneaker collaborations with Lacoste. Only the most official bitches rep Mttm. Stay laced in 2011 and buy a pair on the Married to The Mob website. $100
5. Supra Cuttler in Cabernet Patent
Y’all… seriously. Just look at these puppies! Supras are already my favorite and then they go and make the sleekest sneaks possible? Really? They look so suave in this patent cabernet colour. I’d wear these at my own wedding! But enough about me, the cuttler shoe speaks for itself and it’s a damn good orator.
Get them here (and buy me some!)
6. Radii Straight Jacket Hi-tops
Ok so it is no secret that Justin Beiber wears these shoes. I was watching TMZ and saw him on some date with a little Disney girlie. That little Canadian snot-nose had these Radii’s on! Oh, how I envy the Biebs’ style. He wears them while crowd surfing at sold out concerts and while on dates with girls who are more rich by 8th grade than I will ever be… like ever. He may not be that talented but damn he’s got game for only be 5 foot 6. I honestly think it’s the Radii high tops. Check them out in variety of colours (JB has the shiny black ones) that all look outstanding! $80-$190.
7. Vans x Crayola SK8 Hi Tops
Wearing sneakers, especially Vans, reminds me of my childhood, and my childhood wouldn’t have been complete without spending many hours coloring with Crayola crayons. I was real hyped when I read about the Vans x Crayola sneaker collaboration, and when they were released I was not disappointed, not only did the designs come is a variety of fun primary colors the detail of the broken childlike coloring design is incredible. Lastly the best part would have to be that they don’t come in your generic Vans sneaker box, they are packaged in a box that resembles a pack of Crayola crayons. They still have a couple pairs a pair left for sale on Karmaloop!
8. Creative Recreation Capri Sneaker in Rust Flannel
Usually Creative Recreation makes really over the top high tops that are even too much for little old me. But they recently came out with a Select series that look more like shoes and less like moon boots. The Capri’s are by far the best. Once you catch a glimpse of the rust flannel edition you will see what I mean. These are comparatively affordable and seem like my ideal winter shoe because THEY ARE TWO SHOES IN ONE. Yes, you heard me correctly. You can unzip the flannel high top section and you are left with some pretty decent boat shoes (that look work appropriate to boot). Catch them while you can for $115.
9. Nike Dunk SB High “Skunk”
Oh, the skunk-dunks. Lets begin by addressing the fact that these shoes have a stash pocket inside and green skunks printed on the insole. Nike’s shoe design concept with this 4/20 release is absolutely flawless. I laughed at these shoes when I first saw them and am now converted into believing they are a must-have! This is a case where suede is allowed because its just so “kushy”.
Buy me a size 7 here for $275. (please?)
10. SPERRY A/O 2 Eye in Navy Wool
So it has officially happened… the DC preppy look has infected me. I really want a pair of boat shoes, and I want them to be these wool ones from Sperry. The last spot on our top ten is given to these soft spoken and yet charming shoes that your mom could possibly buy you with just a little hinting. They are cute and probably some of the most affordable on the list at only $90. Just so you know I chose a wish list item for my last pick and not these converses which are actually more note-worthy. The only problem with those is that I just don’t really want a pair!
BONUS (Jeremy Scott Edition!)
When Jeremy Scott collaborates with Adidas absolutely MAGICAL sneaker creations are made which is why our bonus section is a salute to him!
If a sneakerhead got trapped in build a bear workshop I think the final result would be quite similar to these pink teddy bear ballers. They also come in beige (for men?) which the teddy bear has quite a resemblance to the snuggle laundry detergent bear.
AND our extra immature bonus
Jeremy Scott X Mickey Mouse X Adidas
TIME TO GO STOMPIN‘ INTO 2011!
