Katie Couric did it, everybody! She managed to get the cast of The Parent Trap (1998) back together for a Zoom reunion, under the condition that a primary focus would be to raise funds for World Central Kitchen.
And it’s a worthwhile watch! It clocks in at under fifteen minutes, and it’s a nice little catch-up with everybody; Meredith Blake aka Elaine Hendrix remains ICONIC. We also still mega-stan Chessy aka Lisa Ann Walter, although I couldn’t stop laughing at her Zoom background. Just…what and why?
It was also interesting to hear more about how the film was made. I was ten at the time of its release, and I haven’t given too much deep thought into it during adulthood, but even hearing about Erin Mackey, Lindsay’s double, was like…kind of mind-blowing? Just stuff I’d never considered before.
There is a part where Lindsay and Dennis do a reading of that scene where they’re in the car back to Napa, and like, that was kind of weird. (Like, really, really weird. No thank you.) But other than that, highly recommend scoping it over on Katie’s Instagram or embedded below. And donate! WCK is doing so much good, important work, and so if you’ve got the means to help them out, 110% do that.
(PS Katie, can we get a round two of this where it’s just like, the other kids from the camp? And the Marvas? I have so many questions about WHERE ARE THEY NOW. Okay, thank you for considering this idea, I look forward to your reply!)
