Located in Dupont Circle, slightly underground, Urbana is an excellent spot to hide from the rest of DC, sample from an extensive wine list and camp out for an evening of Italian food goodness.
Urbana Executive Chef Ethan McKee has compiled a well-rounded menu of Mediterranean cuisine. Highlights range from the affordable bar menu featuring Panelle (chickpea fritters and spicy brava sauce) and outstanding pizza featuring house-made sausage to fantastic monkfish and scallops dinner dishes.
While the food is excellent (pasta fans will want to order the tagliatelle pasta featuring house made pasta, braised lamb, salsify, olives, mint and pearly onions and vegetarians shouldn’t miss the mushrooms crostini with cipolline onions, garlic confit and thyme), what makes an trip to Urbana worthwhile is the cocktail selection and comfortable atmosphere.
Whether you’re interested in a glass of wine before heading home, a small meal at the pizza bar with a gluten free friend (the restaurant currently has three seperate gluten-free pizza options) or a three-hour celebration meal, you’re set. The space is perfect for individuals, couples or large groups. The cocktail selection is also helping keep folks happy.
