So you find yourself stuck in the Maryland suburbs, hungry and bored and wondering if it will be possible to find a decent meal and a stuff drink. Fear not my friend, because the new shopping center at Pike & Rose has everything you need. In addition to a gym, several shops, and an iPic theater, the shopping center is also home to Summer House Santa Monica, a Los Angeles-themed restaurant with a clean, white décor, plenty of outdoor seating, and a range of delicious American and international fare.
The dishes at SHSM are great for sharing; sample roasted cauliflower tossed with lemon and parmesan and bread crumbs and served on a bed of spicy jalapeno pesto; baked butternut squash soaked in a sweet maple sauce; the most buttery biscuits you will ever have; a pillowy mound of burrata, served with a tomato compote and grilled bread; and chewy pasta tossed with veggies and hunks of toasted garlic and nutty pecorino cheese. Other options include salads, sandwiches, tacos, and more great sharing plates like guacamole and chips, crudité and hummus, and kale chips.
For dessert, stroll over to the baked goods display and choose from homemade rice krispy treats, chocolate chip cookies, brownies, blondies, and a whole lot more. Cocktails and wine are available as well, and if you come during happy hour you can grab a seat on their charming patio and people watch while you drink G&Ts and eat guacamole and chips. Suddenly, the suburbs don’t sound so bad.
