Oyamel has long since been DC’s favorite, and most authentic, Mexican restaurant. Everyone knows and loves their famous guacamole, salt air margaritas, and grasshopper tacos. What many people don’t know is that any night of the week, you can elect to try the Oyamel Experience Menu: an endless array of the Chef’s best dishes, selected by him and made especially for you.

The menu is available for $55, and it allows you to escape the hardest part of dining at Oyamel, which is choosing from their huge variety of small plates. With the Oyamel Experience Menu, you just sit back, relax, and allow Chef Colin King to take care of you. Even better, you can opt to get the beverage paring with the dinner, which is an additional $35. Mixologist Jasmine Chae promises to make you a bevy of innovative cocktails, which may include her famous Sagrado Corazon, a drink highlight by a gorgeous ball of hibiscus ice, Sangre y Fuego, made with Del Maguey mezcal, and one of the many Mexican liquors made in-house.

The dishes and cocktails will change every time, and you can feel free to let the staff know about any preferences and dietary restrictions.

Highlights included sweet and spicy yellow watermelon salad; cheesy chilaquiles, which are basically fancy nachos; earthy squash blossom quesadillas; tacos; and of course, tres leches cake that is so good you’re gonna wanna smack your mama.
