You can skip the line when you order to go at Ice Cream Jubilee. And there will likely be a line at all times of day this summer. So you’ll want to skip the line.
After experimenting with ice cream making in her apartment kitchen, owner and founder Victoria Lai took a break from her corporate law job in search of a more creative outlet. Victoria learned quite a bit about flavors and creativity at an apprenticeship at a pie shop in Brooklyn, and eventually moved to D.C. to rejoin the corporate sector. She continued making ice cream in her free-time and eventually began selling ice cream to local restaurants and grocery stores under the name Ice Cream Jubilee.
Ice Cream Jubilee brings a small-town ice cream stand feel to this bustling city. Victoria’s creativity and passion shine through in her amazing flavors. Though you can find your standard classics like chocolate and vanilla, you’ll also find unique combinations like Gin & Tonic sorbet and Thai Iced Tea ice cream. Ice Cream Jubilee uses cream from local cows and sources sustainable ingredients to use in their decadent confections.
I had the pleasure of tasting six new summer flavors, which are now available at both their SE and NW locations.
The classic sweet and salty duo, a coveted combination. Sprinkle some sea salt on top for an extra reason to salivate over this incredible flavor.
Most everyone likes candy. Most everyone also likes cookies. Most everyone especially likes ice cream. Put those three together and you’ve got an absolute winner.
Coffee & Doughnuts
This flavor is what Twin Peaks tastes like. Channel your inner Agent Cooper. This is an excuse to eat ice cream for breakfast.
Imagine taking vanilla ice cream in one hand and an entire blueberry pie in the other and then squishing them together. The pieces of flaky, homemade crust send this all-American flavor over the top.
Strawberry Ginger Lemonade Sorbet
Perhaps dairy-free is more your speed. Sweet strawberries and a pop of spicy, fresh ginger make this sorbet a quintessential summer snack.
Basil Goat Cheese
How can two flavors taste as good together in a sweet concoction as they do in a savory one? I do not know. But I am now thoroughly addicted to this flavor which combines sweet, fresh basil and tangy goat cheese into a beautiful pale green sea of deliciousness.
Send someone you like some ice cream. Ice Cream Jubilee has some amazing Father’s Day options, with free shipping to most eastern states. I’m sure your dad would love some ice cream. Visit Victoria and friends at The Navy Yard (301 Water Street SE, Washington, D.C. 20003) or Logan Circle & U St. (1407 T Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20009) and grab yourself a treat. You deserve it.
