Et Voila is one of the perfect neighborhood restaurants where the staff is warm and fuzzy, the frites are crispy, the wine is in abundance, and if you come there often enough, everyone knows your name.

What makes it even better is that it is a Belgian French where vegetarians can actually eat (don’t make me list all of the French restaurants in DC that refuse to cater to vegetarians). Chef Claudio takes care of vegetarians and meat-eaters alike with his new spring menu, which features several new seasonal savory and sweet dishes.

Here are some of the highlights: first, a lentil salad that comes topped with a perfectly cooked 63 degree egg. Seafood lovers will enjoy it with scallops instead of the egg, but the egg option may be the more decadent choice. Earthy and creamy at the same time, it is perfect with a piece of crusty French bread and a glass of wine.

Next up is hearty porcini risotto that is absolutely sublime. Thick, luscious, and covered in shards of parmesan cheese, it is the ultimate comfort food.

For the main course vegetarians will enjoy cassarecsce pasta, served with spinach, sweet potato puree, crispy fried onions that are insanely addictive, and sweet, seasonal corn. A vibrant embodiment of the flavors and textures vegetables can provide when cooked properly, the dish is both beautiful and filling.

And then there is dessert. Profiteroles, chocolate mousse, plaisir cake (which translates to pleasure cake…and that’s all you really need to know), strawberry shortcake, and pear gratin topped with beer-infused ice cream are some of the insanely good options.

Remember to supplement your meal with wine and frites and you’re all set.
