Fall has officially arrived. Yes, it is past September 21, the calendar beginning of fall. But more telling of the seasonal change is the fact that Blue Duck Tavern has rolled out their fall breakfast menu. And nothing says fall like sweet potato pancakes.

The new fall menu is full of goodies and I got to sample them all. The sweet potato pancakes are autumn perfection. The moist pancakes are adorned with roasted sweet potato pieces, hunks of apple, sweet cinnamon sugar glazed pecans, and a dollop of bruleed marshmallow cream. Is it breakfast or dessert? Who knows and who cares? I want to eat these pancakes All. Day. Long.

Fresh waffles with whipped ricotta cheese and roasted figs are equally satisfying, and those looking for something really hearty should get the French toast with poached pears and shaved chocolate (yep, chocolate!). On the savory side the clear winner is a breakfast croissant with raclette cheese and eggs. Pretty much the most decadent breakfast sandwich there ever was!

And of course, no meal at BDT is complete without a side of their insanely awesome fries, which are more like golden potato nuggets. Dip them in the aioli they come with, sit back, and contemplate how good your life is.

Fresh squeezed orange juice is available to wash it down, as are individual French presses of coffee. You have probably tried BDT for lunch or dinner, but breakfast needs to be added to your agenda ASAP.
