This past Saturday afternoon in the District the inaugural edition of the Sweetlife Festival was brought to the District thanks to the kind fellows over at Sweetgreen. Held in the parking lot behind their Dupont location, Sweetlife featured musical performances (in order of appearance) by DJ Will Eastman, Phil Ade, The Love Language, (a DJ set by) Hot Chip, and finally U.S. Royalty.
Phil Ade did his best to illicit some energy from the crowd with a little bit of call and response.

Hot Chip, an appearance.
Kids doing dorky white people dancing to Hot Chip’s DJ set, I’m pretty sure I witnessed some improvised setting and spiking, with an imaginary (and very musical?) volleyball. Yeah, it was that real.
DJ Grant Shapiro (above, right), according to Jonathan Neman (one of the owner/founders of Sweetgreen) the sickest DJ you’ve never heard of.
Then U.S. Royalty took the stage and closed out the show, finishing just as the rain began to come down…
