Our second annual DC Super Sampler was a success. Jamel was the perfect comic to open the show. DDm stole the show. Loud Boyz stayed true to their name and mission. Sheila D. Yeah was able to get everyone to dance. Jamel was the perfect comic to close the show.
Since it was a BYT event, there are enough quality photographs to reconstruct the entire evening. We’ve been watching a lot of True Detective (stay tuned for our recap!).
But before we dig in a few thank yous:
- Thank you to Howard Theatre for letting us do this
- Thank you to all the bands (all of whom you should listen to/follow/be best friends with ASAP): Sheila D Yeah, Me & This Army, Hassani Kwess (with special guest Jasmine), Coup Sauvage and the Snips, Ras Nebyu, Loud Boyz, DDM, Walking Sticks, Akoko, Pleasure Curses, + Farma Wes
- as well as all the lovely, hilarious comedians who made us laugh on Friday and perform around DC 24/7/365 so go find them: Dana Bell, Andrew Bucket, David Carter, Adam Friedland, Russ Green, Jamel Johnson, Jenn Tisdale, Haywood Turnipseed Jr., Brandon Wetherbee, Michael Foody, Howard Lester
- and to Steven Place for being the face of the event and all our staff for working tirelessly to make this happen, capture it on film etc
