Sure, he may be one of the members of Nirvana, but Dave Grohl is also an incredibly cool and humble dude.  That’s why we’re bringing you tickets to see the Foo Fighters ( + The Joy Formidable and Social Distortion!!!) on 11/11/11 at the Verizon Center.   Tickets for what promises to be an epic show will be on sale this FRIDAY @ 10AM.  Mark it on your google calendar and thank those lovely folks over at 9:30 Club/IMP for giving you a shot to win tickets early.  Now let’s listen to THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST… Foo Fighters song ever.

    Neil Young. He may be looking a bit haggard these days, but common’ he was in some of the greatest bands of all time, and had more than his fair share of ridiculous collaborations He probably has some epic stories to share, and would be the perfect guy to just casually post up at the end of the bar with, reminiscing about times gone by.

    I know it’s probably trite, but I’ll say Bono. Because, really, he’s reinvented the role of the rock star, and even after all these years, U2 still can find things to say and do that are relevant and current and not cheesy (are you listening, Keith Richards?). The possible topics of conversation are pretty interesting and endless — world economics, religion, songwriting, having a family, etc., etc.

    And don’t worry Dave, if I get the tickets, having a beer with you would be supercool also…..I’d have to have to ask about the Top Chef episode…..because I am secretly jealous.

    Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam, the man must have a whole bunch of stories from the grunge days and definitely seems as a relaxed an easygoing guy. Besides his talent as a bass player (and photographer) is really underrated.

    Jack White III. Just heard a story that while working in an upholstery store, he recorded a 7″ single with a coworker, pressed 100 copies of the single, and then put them into random pieces of furniture he was working on. To this day…no one has found a copy. Great story. I’d love to hear more…

    Arrie up there might have stolen my answer, but Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures, Eagles of Death Metal) would definitely be my choice. Not only is he close friends with Dave Grohl, John Paul Jones, Jesse Hughes who are ALL welcome to join the pow wow but he’s also the most sarcastically funny badass mofo. Have you heard his interviews or seen any of the youtube videos on/with him?!

    i think that if i could sit down for a beer with anyone it’d have to be Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue. He’s from the old school rock era and he’s been through so much both musically and personally, and as a musician myself i’d love to pick his brain about everything he’s learned.     I’d like to have a beer or two with Ray Davies. He’s been around long enough to have a lot of great stories, and he’s always come across as being an intelligent guy with a good sense of humor. And, of course, the Kinks were a really great band, and it would be great to be able to tell him that.

    this might sound lame considering the contests is for foo fighters tickets, but i’d love to have a drink with dave grohl, or anyone from the foos for that matter. they’re all such wonderful, hilarious, down to earth guys and they’d be a blast to hang out with. i know dave has a million stories and loves to talk with people so it’d be so much fun to listen to him. i mean you only have to watch a handful of interview and video clips of dave and the guys on youtube and you already feel like you know them and could be best friends. i can’t imagine what sharing a beer with them would be like.

    Just imagine sitting in a corner booth at your local dingy bar, and some hardcore guy dressed in all black, with a cowboy hat walks up to you and says in a deep bass voice, “Hello, Im Johnny Cash.”

    it would be awesome to have a beer with Dave Grohl- I think their garage tour illustrates how down to earth and humble they are- willing to rock out for a crowd of 50 or 20,000. Second choice is Slash- he is ridiculously talented and definitely has some stories, though i would fear the wrath of Mrs. Slash as she is known to kick any woman talking to her husband.

    ALISON MOSSART (The Kills, Deadweather)…she truly is the female equivalent of Dave Grohl. Look up “cool” in the dictionary, and you see no words, just video of each of them doing their thing on stage. Love the confidence they both exude…maybe it would only get better over a few “bee stings” at Saint Ex.
