We asked some of our favorite musicians to give us lists of their favorite songs for summertime, and our sixth installment comes from Northern Faces! We’ve got shout-outs to Nada Surf, Portugal. the Man and MORE, so do some sonic stretches and GET LISTENIN’! Also be sure to follow Northern Faces on Facebook and Twitter for ALL the latest news. HERE WE GO:
Catfish and the Bottlemen – “Cocoon”
This song is killer. Great melodies, great production, and lyrics that make you want to shout along with the windows down.
BØRNS – “Electric Love”
If this song doesn’t sound like summertime, I don’t know what does. Beware: one listen and the hook won’t leave your head for weeks.
Portugal. the Man – “Purple Yellow Red & Blue”
We had this album on repeat while we were on a two month long summer tour in 2013. It had just come out, and we were hooked. If there’s any album/song that feels like summer to Northern Faces, this is the one.
Bleachers – “Rollercoaster”
Jack Antonoff writes some of the best hooks I’ve ever heard (just ask Taylor Swift.) This song sounds like being on a beach with your best friends, a few beers, and a whole bunch of sunshine.
Nada Surf – “Blizzard of 77”
One of the most underrated bands of all time. YES, they released that song “Popular”. NO, it’s not even close to their best work. Hard to believe a song with the word “blizzard” in the title could feel like summertime, but give it a listen and I think you’ll see what we mean. This is more of a “sunset on the beach with a cool summer breeze” type of tune.
