We’re very happy to premiere the first song on Zeshan B’s upcoming album Vetted. Equal parts Al Green and JC Brooks (maybe we’re hearing the Chicago influence), Zeshan’s delivery is real and relatable.
“Lonely Man” is an incredibly pleasing two-and-a-half minute slice of organic soul. It’s fine on headphones, better on speakers and meant to be heard live. It’s over much sooner than you want it to end. It’s one of the best singles of the year.
Zeshan’s biography is interesting and he has performed for President Obama but we didn’t want to lead with that. The music speaks for itself. It is exactly what you want to stumble upon at an outdoor street fest in Chicago, at a secret show at SXSW or in a dark bar on a jukebox. We’ve heard some of the rest of the album and it’s just as good. A mix of originals and covers of underappreciated soul from the 60s and 70s, Vetted will be on a lot of best of 2017 year end lists.
