It’s three weeks into 2016. This time a month ago it was basically 60 degrees and now, we’re writing our first snow day specials. Enjoy the food and drinks! We’ll be updating throughout the day/weekend/disaster.


Denizens Brewing Company is closing on Saturday BUT they’re offering pre-snowstorm specials. From 4 p.m. on Thursday and from 3 p.m. on Friday they’re having (their words) a growler sale. Fill one up for $14, or pay $30 for the barrel-aged quadruple.


What could be a better occasion for $5 spiked hot tea at Ambar than this this occasion (snowstorms).


Barcelona Wine Bar on 14th St. will have free soup and free spiced hot chocolate to all guests on Saturday. The Cathedral Heights location will have a hot chocolate station outside for guests walking by and another one for guests inside. The Reston is offering a free tape if you show a manager a picture of you making a snowman/snow angel posted to social media tagging Barcelona Reston.

Bayou is offering $2 cups of gumbo, $18 Abita beer buckets and specialty cocktails for $6.

Bearnaise is selling half-priced bottles of wine. You can also get a $7 house wine and $10 French onion soup combo.

Bayou Bakery is celebrating the snow with “Chili and Suds” which basically means you can get Cajun-style chili for $3/cup or $5 a bowl and get Anita beer at a happy hour price for $3/12oz.  This is happening alllll day Saturday and allll day Sunday. The specials will be at both Bayou Bakery locations.

Brookland Pint will have 10% off for every foot of recorded snow applied to the entire bill, an additional $1 off “hot adult beverages” for every 6 inches of recorded snow and a snowman building contest on their patio Saturday. You may use whatever props you wish. Kids division (under 12) is judged at 4 p.m., adults division at 5 p.m. $150 gift card goes to each division winner.

Centrolina is opening their bar at 1 p.m. on Saturday and will be offering wine and Delamotte champagne. For dessert they’ll be serving bombolini and complimentary homemade marshmallows with yo hot chocolate.

The folks at Chaia Tacos will give you free coffee or tea (there’s two kinds of people) when you get one of their taco trios.

City Tap House is using the snow day to celebrate all weekend. From Friday to Sunday you can order cookie dough served in warm skillet and Captain Morgan spiked hot mulled cider for $7 each. There will also be board games.

Civil Lounge might be open on Saturday and if it is, you can get 15% off cognac and bourbon and 15% off cigars.

Del Campo is serving Peruvian Ramen for $15 AND all day happy hour including hot beverages.

Due South is offering $6 specials on hot Texas-style beef chili, spiked apple cider, Snow White Russians and dark ‘n stormys.

Firefly will have $5 soup & grilled cheese and a $5 hot cocktail of the day on Friday 4-7 p.m. and Saturday 4-6 p.m.

For every inch of snow, Flight Wine Bar is giving 1% off of Friday and Saturday night checks.

Graffiato is rolling out a special happy hour menu.

Hank’s Dupont has Happy Hour at the bar starting at first snow and lasting through the weekend.

Hank’s On The Hill has $2 Narragansett Milk Stouts, $5 Hot Punch and Happy Hour at the bar starts Friday 4 p.m. and lasts through the weekend.

Hank’s Old Town has $1.25 select oysters at the bar all day Saturday.

L’Hommage Bistro is having happy hour all day on Friday and Saturday. That means $6 Jameson and other reasonably priced drinks.

Jetties is offering $6 sandwiches all Friday.

Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab is celebrating the city shutting down on Friday with a special all day cocktail hour (so more than one hour) in their Banking Hall. Cocktail sandwiches, half priced oysters on the half shell, half priced signature cocktails, wine, and beer will all be in attendance. And if the snow rolls over into Saturday then there will be a second round.

Kapnos is hosting an all day long happy hour from 11:30 a.m. – 9 p.m. Kapnos Taverna is also offering an all day happy hour with NFL specials.

The Pug is making big promises – well actually they’re putting a lot of faith in this snowstorm coming through. For every six inches it snows they’ll offer $1 off drafts.

At Requin you can order from their special three course menu for $39. Dishes include onion soup, half chicken, and your choice of profiterole or souffle.

Republic will have happy hour beginning noon on Friday. They will offer their full happy hour menu including local oysters for $1, $3 select half pints, $5 select wines by the glass, $5 Tom and John Collins and $7 Addie’s Mussels.

Free growlers at Sherry’s DC before noon on Friday. You’ll get a refill too.

Let there be $7 chili and homemade Glogg for $12 at Station 4.

Sticky Fingers is serving $3 bottomless in-house coffee (you can add whiskey for $1), $1 off Kahlua au-lait, $5 chili-mac, and a $5 chili bowl or chickpea tikka masala.

Surfside in Glover Park is giving dine-in customers a free cup of chicken tortilla soup with any entree purchase and will have half-price Margarita pitchers all day. The Surfside Taco Stand in Dupont Circle will be open this weekend, 24 hours a day.

Texas Jack’s Barbecue in Arlington is offering two-for-one sides.

TICO will serve happy hour at the bar on Friday evening and all day Saturday. Happy hour specials include $6 cocktails, $5 beer and wine, $4 tacos, and $5 small plates.

The Twisted Horn will have $5 Angostura Hot Cider and Late Night Happy Hour ($4 Dealer’s Choice Vermouth, $4 Sparkling Wine, $6 for both, $2 Mexicali Pilsner) starting on Friday and lasting through the weekend.

Urbana will have $5 margherita pizzas, $7 Urbana boilermaker (shot of Fernet on tap and a Peroni) and a $7 moonshot (hot cocktail) starting at 3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Via Umbria has porchetta and half priced beer, wine, and cocktails all weekend.
