We got a SXSW recap from a BAND’S perspective earlier today, but we also thought it’d be good to gauge the week from the POV of some of our favorite music publicists; below we’ve got the low-down from Shira Knishkowy (Partisan Records), Nancy Lu (Fancy PR), Samara Shwidock (Republic Records), Ilana Gold (Atlantic Records), Joanna Noyes Amato (The Orchard) and Jeffrey Smith (Crash Avenue), so READ ALL ABOUT IT RIGHT NOW:

Was this your first time at SXSW? Fourth
What was your reason for attending this year? I work with Torres and Heartless Bastards via Partisan Records
Where’d you stay, and would you stay there again? An amazing little house on the east side.  Walkable to everything and super comfy.

And what was your least favorite moment? Getting strep throat and having to go to the urgent care clinic to get a steroid shot & antibiotic shot in my butt.
What’s the best thing you ate while you were in Austin? Hands down chicken tortilla soup at a Mexican joint in a strip mall across from the urgent care.  Also brisket from La Barbeque.

Finally, what’s your recovery plan? Painkillers and hot tea and Gilmore Girls.

Was this your first time at SXSW?  Second year!
What was your reason for attending this year? Hanging with the coolest bands on the planet and repping Republic Records.
Where’d you stay, and would you stay there again? We stayed in airstream trailers at our Republic Compound. I now have a newfound respect for bands that tour in buses.
What was your favorite moment? James Bay serenading the crowd at Communion. The acoustics in that church are out of control!
And what was your least favorite moment? The rain! But I did get to rock a sweet Republic Records poncho.
What’s the best thing you ate while you were in Austin? Brunch at Moonshine, also the only meal I ate sitting down at a restaurant.
Any new band discoveries you’re excited about? Finally seeing Leon Bridges and my new obsession Elle King.
Finally, what’s your recovery plan? Green juice- I haven’t had a vegetable in 7 days.

Was this your first time at SXSW? YES.
What was your reason for attending this year? Bunch of my bands were out here playing amazing music for amazing people (Milo Greene, Marina And The Diamonds, Melanie Martinez, Lauriana Mae, Christine and the Queens), and we had a Neiman Marcus x Atlantic Records Showcase.
Where’d you stay, and would you stay there again? I stayed at The Omni. It was great with the exception of them only having full beds + 3 people :). Lots of bonding time with co-workers!
What was your favorite moment? Not recognizing Fall Out Boy (ok, it was raining and we all had hoods up) and asking if I could “pop a squat” on the extra chair next to them at the Woodies. Finding out afterwards everyone behind me was laughing at me (I didn’t see the pink hair!!!)
And what was your least favorite moment? I was going to say lack of sleep but then I remembered #IDGT (@iamkevingates)
What’s the best thing you ate while you were in Austin? I’m lame – I didn’t eat BBQ. I had a great turkey sandwich at Easy Tiger? Good vibes there.
What’s the weirdest thing you saw during your trip? Boobs @ at Ty Dolla $ign show.
Any new band discoveries you’re excited about? James Bay + Sam Hunt!!!!!!!
Finally, what’s your recovery plan? Sleep, detox, water & repeat.

What’s the best thing you ate while you were in Austin? How about the best damn Latte I’ve had in my life from Buzz Mill on Riverside.
What’s the weirdest thing you saw during your trip? So much weird… not sure one incident would capture the entire weirdness that is Austin.
Any new band discoveries you’re excited about? We were so busy with my and my staff’s artists… there was no time for other acts unfortunately.
Finally, what’s your recovery plan? We all got back to our home’s on Sunday afternoon… no rest for the wicked… I have Hayden’s No Love coming out on Arts & Crafts tomorrow… full steam ahead!
