For those not super in the loop yet: The annual RAMMY Awards Gala is the signature annual fundraiser for Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) recognizing the best and brightest in the area’s vibrant restaurant industry. Think of it as the Oscars of the DC food world, but with more drinks and often, a lot of tiny hats.
But, before the gala happens – the nominations are in order. On Monday, RAMW held a little soiree at Georgetown’s Powerhouse to remind us and you that the nomination process closes TODAY and ALSO that there is a few new categories this season (most notably the Beer Programs have FINALLY been separated from the Beverage/Mixology category, meaning that DC will now officially celebrate wine, cocktails AND beer, as it should), including 2 publicly voted brunch categories (a smart move, because God only knows you guys love Brunch).
Check out who won last year here (they are not eligible to be nominated this season btw) and the categories are such:
- Â Formal Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year
- Upscale Casual Restaurant of the Year
- Everyday Casual Restaurant of the Year
- New Restaurant of the Year
- Chef of the Year
- Rising Culinary Star of the Year
- Pastry Chef of the Year

- Cocktail Program of the Year (formerly Beverage/Mixology Program) ***
- Beer Program of the Year ***
- Service Program of the Year ***
