Think Local First threw their Local First Awards at Blind Whino last night and it was one of the most optimistic and down right cheery events we’ve seen in a long time. The event brought together neighbors, consumers and creators for a celebration of everything locally made. DC Brau and Right Proper kept us full of delicious beer, and the food ranged from succulent Red Apron sliders to healthy as hell Cava salads.
Winners included Bailiwick Clothing, Paul Ruppert Restaurants and Upshur Street Books, The Potter’s House, Misfit Juicery, City First Bank, Tightshift Laboring Cooperative and Lee’s Flower and Card Shop, but it was one of those situations where it felt like every nominee deserved an award. Afterwards, people drank and danced and perused the Makers Market (where I bought Christmas cards in advanced for the first time in my entire life). It was downright delightful. Check out the photos below and make sure to follow and support Think Local First (and all your local businesses, they’re the one’s that matter most).
