This is Branchburg
Earlier this week, we named hosts of This is Branchburg, Brendan O’Hare and Cory Snearowski, Funny Humans of the Week, in honor of the debut of this excellent new podcast. A character-driven celebration of the mundane details and subtle absurdities of suburban life with an endearing and goofy charm, Branchburg is a breath of fresh air to the overcrowded comedy podcast landscape.

Sooo Many White Guys
One half of the mighty 2 Dope Queens, Phoebe Robinson keeps busy with a variety of projects, one of my favorites of which is her interview podcast Sooo Many White Guys, a comedy chat show that (mostly) features guests who aren’t straight white dudes. Recent guests include K-Pop star Eric Nam, journalist Jemele Hill, and Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi! This one’s always a great listen.

Good One: A Podcast About Jokes
Writer Jesse David Fox’s Good One stands out as one of the most reliably interesting interview shows thanks to an interesting hook: the conversation revolves around the dissection of a single joke from his comedian guest’s repertoire. Fox uses this as an entry point to discuss their jokewriting process, philosophy, and POV, while allowing for some entertaining and engaging tangents along the way.

Classroom Crush
Diving deep into the mortifying world of adolescent flirtation, Classroom Crush is a delightful, oddly nostalgic look how formative childhood crushes shape our way of interacting with the world. Host and master oversharer Rebecca Bulnes guides her guests through an exploration of their adolescent crushes, often reading from diary entries, chat logs, and other flirtatious ephemera in a celebration of the awkwardness of teenage feelings.

The Underculture With James Adomian
All-time great podcast guest and master impressionist James Adomian finally has a show of his own, where he can spread out and flex his longform improv muscles. Just two episodes in, The Underculture is a well produced showcase of his skills, featuring hour-long conversations between Adomian and a guest both deep in character. Where else would you get to hear Bernie Sanders and Mikhail Gorbachev in conversation?
