If you’re going to attend one DC Public Library fundraising event, this is the one. Best theme, best drinks, best music. Our founder is one of the presenters, so we’re obviously biased. But she’s one of the presenter’s because it’s the best party at the DCPL.
We’re not going to sell you on the merits of the D.C. Public Library. I use it. I actually have 2 books waiting for me at the Mount Pleasant Library. I also use the library for ebooks and audiobooks. If you don’t take advantage of the library, your loss and less of a wait time for me.
We will sell you on the merits of a party on the D.C. Public Library. Parties in libraries sound awful. Sometimes they are. This one is not awful. The simple decorations of balloons spelling out words that you want to Instagram, quality music from Ayes Cold and Chain and the Gang and extremely potent cocktails are what makes this a must-attend.
The drink highlight was from Duane Sylvestre of Collectif 1806. His drink was served in a bag. A plastic bag held a dangerous punch. It didn’t taste like alcohol. It was made entirely of alcoholic ingredients.
The $50 price ticket is actually reasonable, at least for D.C. Four cocktails at any of the participating restaurants and bars would easily cost more than the ticket. Add in a good cause and it’s a no brainer.
