The National Harbor continues to employ fun and wacky stuff to get us to go down there and it’s 100% working. The Harbor Dome opens tonight, and this snow globe come to life might just be the only place in the area where you’ll actually be able to stay cool this week. Kept at a cool temperature and filled every 15 minutes with lots of foam snow, the Harbor Dome reminds me of Ice Town from Parks & Rec. It’s the kind of project you could imagine a kid coming up with, but instead of failing miserably, it’s actually kind of fun.
Of course, cocktails by Mixtress DC certainly don’t hurt. The slushy concoctions are sweet and refreshing and filled with ingredients that point to the childlike nature of the whole event. I never thought I would be cool with a cocktail that has Mountain Dew in it, but I guess I am!
Harbor Dome kicked off with a performance by Color Palette last night, but you’ll be able to catch D.C. favorite’s White Ford Bronco there along with Magic Giant. Even if you’re just coming to hang out, get ready to feel like a kid again.
Tickets are either $10 or $25 and are available for each weekend of the three-week run of Harbor Dome!
