First we have a mobile bar car, and now we have the District’s first mobile art gallery. SPACE4 is a roving, rotating art gallery that started its first weekend at Yards Park with a big kickoff party. Salvatore Pirrone’s “String Room” was the first installation crafted for the gallery, and it’s made up entirely of string and plaster panels.
There were performances by the Tyler Elementary School All-Star Steppers, Christylez Bacon and Nistha Raj and Orange Grove Dance + Rogue Collective, as well as speakers like Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton. They’re some of the cutest photos we’ve ever run on the website. You’ll love it.
String Room is located in The Yards Park at 301 Water Street SE and will be on view through November 15th. Gallery hours are Wednesday – Thursday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday – Sunday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
