When our friends at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and Renwick Gallery told us that Janet Echleman’s amazing 1.8, whose rainbow strands have stretched across the ceiling/sky of the Grand Salon since the WONDER exhibition opened in November of 2015, was coming down, we decided to send it on its way with a morning full of yoga, taught by instructor Katie Marshall.
Over 200 yogis filled up the Grand Salon for the send off. 1.8’s Renwick Gallery run might be over, but it’s still owned by the Smithsonian American Art Museum (the Renwick’s parent museum), so who knows when it will pop up next? Wherever it goes, we’ll be sure to do yoga underneath it. (we’re secretly hoping they’ll hang it in the Kogod Courtyard… HINT HINT SMITHSONIAN). Special thanks to SAAM and lululemon for being instrumental in making this possible. Can’t wait until the next BYTYoga event? SAAM does monthly $10 classes in their Luce Foundation Center. The next one is May 31.
