Last night Capital Pride unveiled the theme for 2017’s Pride: Unapologetically Proud. 2017 Pride events come in the wake of last year’s mass shooting at Pulse in Orlando and the election of Donald Trump. In these dark times, Pride is urging all of us to come together.
At the theme reveal at Sax that burlesque dancers and acrobats, Capital Pride outlined the events they have planned for the annual events. More details coming the next months including the Capital Pride opening party hosted by Brightest Young Things on Friday, June 9.
This year’s Pride also coincides with National LGBTQ March on Washington, on Sunday, June 11, that has potential of being as large as the Women’s March on Washington. Though not an official Pride event, there have been communication between Capital Pride and the march’s organizers.
