For the second year running, Merriweather has proven they can still get as weird as they were in 1982, when they had magician Doug Henning perform six nights in a row. Thankfully, OPUS brought a different kind of magic to our favorite outdoor venue. By featuring music and art from all over the world, OPUS is making Columbia a little more interesting, one wild festival at a time.
The event kicked off at 5 p.m. with some sweet DJ tunes that quickly spiraled into a symphony of ethereal performances and art installations. Choir voices and lights rang throughout the forest, while on the main stage people were synchronizing their breath. As the night went on, there were synchronized light and dance pieces, projections merged with concert performances and impromptu dance parties.
There was also some killer food. Be on the look out for next year’s OPUS. It’s not one to miss.
