The most uncomfortable day of the year came and went with little fanfare. As temperatures hit a high of 23 degrees (and a low of 8), Metro riders converged on Hancock park, ready to drop their pants and pull out their SmarTrip cards for a ride that was sure to equal parts confuse and amuse fellow passengers. The No Pants Subway ride is pretty innocuous, as long as no one sits down on the Metro seats or does anything gross, it’s a fine and silly gesture that allows us to capture fine and silly photos, but it feels a little grosser this year. A little stale. A little tone deaf. In a time where people still can’t quite figure out what constitutes appropriate workplace behavior, should we be taking off our pants in front of strangers? Even if it’s a joke?

I don’t know. Either way, here are some fine and silly photos.
