The Maloof Money Cup is one of the biggest competitions currently going on in the skateboarding world!
The Maloof Money Cup aims to spread skate culture throughout the world while uniting professional and amateur skateboarders while giving back to each city the tour touches. The Maloof Money Cup has dates in other locations such as Orange County, New York City & South Africa.
This past weekend the Maloof Money Cup took over the ‘Maloof Cup Park’ which was built for this skate competition and is now a permanent feature in the city and it was filled with the greatest pro skateboarders in the game right now.
Sunday was the end all be all of the DC part of the $$ Cup and the skaters were divided into groups (in which one of the skate boarders dislocated his shoulder during his 4 minutes and one of the hosts of the money cup just popped it right back into place, so sick!) that were very similar to college basketball brackets. Andrew Reynolds was the lucky skater to win it all and take home $160,000.00 which is a pretty solid amount of paper to skate from one weekend of shredding the GNAR.
To sum it all up, the Maloof Money cup was FUCKING AWESOME & it brought together skate kids from all over the DMV! Two Thumbs up, the perfect sunday funday event and hopefully more guys will unleash their inner Travis Birkenstock swag.
