Flaxen-haired singer/songwriter Laura Marling was just 16 years old when she burst on the English indie scene in 2007 in part due to a several infectious singles on her MySpace profile. Possessing a husky voice, an acoustic guitar, and a knack for building quirky, hook-filled folk songs (attributes that invite favorable comparisons to songstresses such as Lily Allen, Regina Spektor, and Martha Wainwright), Marling found acclaim for herself throughout England through non-stop touring and a few high-profile gigs. Headlining at the 930 Club last night means she’s making waves in the U.S. too. Here are Eric’s shots:
