For those of us that have meanered about the DC art world for the last few years, Dupont Underground, the 75,000 sq.ft labyrinthine space below the eponymous circle, has become somewhat of a holy grail: something everyone wants to happen, something that will (somehow) solve every performance/exhibit space problem this city ever had but also something that no one is quite sure HOW to make happen.

City Paper put a price tag on the renovation last week noting that “The group (Coalition For Dupont Underground-ed) needs $30 million to launch the project, says ACDC managing director Braulio Agnese. “Any money is good,” he says, with a laugh”.

A party happening at the Eastern Market Main Hall this past weekend was a start. Featuring music by Alex Minoff, Margot MacDonald and Justin Jones (curated by DC Setlist), cocktails, live art performances, DJs and dancing, the evening collected those that believe every little bit helps.

Now-all we need to do is keep pushing. Click on: http://www.dupontunderground.org/ to learn more/get involved/volunteer etc.
