Mischief and mayhem descended on DC Friday night with the annual DC Ladies Arm Wrestling (D/CLAW) Championships. Eight women (who can kick any of your asses) competed in three rounds of gritty, adrenaline rushed arm-to-arm combat in the basement of Penn Social, with a scene that looked like something out of Fight Club.
The winner of the night was the Treacherous Tutu (of Black Swan inspiration), besting newcomer Paula Bunyan in the heated final round.
Intermissions included a sultry burlesque show, two comedians, and raffles of awesome prizes. All proceeds went to Miriam’s Kitchen, a non-profit working to end chronic homelessness in DC.
The event was a huge success, raising $6100 for Miriam’s Kitchen, translating to over 6000 meals, through bets on the eight wrestlers and special auctions including $300 for a date with Tutu’s gaggle and $600 for a “binder of women” featuring the women of D/CLAW.
