Runners gathered at the Pour House decked out in an orgy of pink and red, Superman underwear, lacy lingerie, bows & arrows (and oddly enough more Santa hats than I expected) for the Second Annual Cupid’s Undie Run (for a good cause: The Children’s Tumor Foundation). The doors opened at 12:00 but the run was scheduled for 2:00, giving participants enough time to knock back a couple of rounds in a collective attempt at getting prepped before the 1 mile race.
Spectators and throngs of media folk lined the streets of Pennsylvania Ave waiting for the participants. As the runners congregated outside a tangible energy was mounting force as the announcers galvanized the runners with speakerphone-induced words of inspiration peaking in a pre-run ruckus of smiles, laughter and silliness. The runners shot off, everyone establishing their own pace up towards 3rd St where some stopped to take pictures while others did push-ups and jumping jacks in front of the Capitol before heading back to the Pour House for well-earned drinks and merriment.
