BrewLights, the annual fundraiser near the beginning of ZooLights, was another sold-out National Zoo affair. Unlike other National Zoo events like Night of the Living Zoo, the rest of the zoo remained opened for the non-participating zoogoers. In other words, if you have a kid and want to drink high octane beers (our favorites from last night’s event were from Adroit Theory and The Brewer’s Art) from local breweries, this should be on your 2017 calendar.

We shouldn’t need to sell you on the greatness of a lit up zoo. It’s the regular zoo, but at night and with bright lights. It’s great. There are flamingo lights and cow lights and, my favorite, a stingray that could double for the best emoji.

ZooLights runs through January 1. They’re closed December 24 and 25 for some reason. Go to the National Zoo. It’s free and open to the public regardless of special events.
