DC’s museum partying A-team (you know who you are) came out in force for the 2nd annual ART AFTER DARK. The event took place at the ART MUSEUM OF THE AMERICAS, nestled neatly off of 18th and Virginia NW, right next to the Corcoran, which celebrates regional art in all it’s forms (if this prompts you to go visit it NOW-hold off, since post party, the museum is closed thought September 15th for the changing of the exhibits).
The first evening of September proved perfect for the event since the weather allowed everyone to fully enjoy the truly spectacular outdoors space, reflective pool, stage featuring Matthew Hemerlein and Screen Vinyl Image and all (though most girls in heels probably regretted their footwear decision in the light of the gravelly surfaces, but, you know-lessons learned). Later in the evening, a dance party got going on the inside with DJ Smudge, Melissa Krodman’s “HOW TO DANCE AT A DANCE PARTY” performance piece and more.
We had not one, not two, not three BUT FOUR photographers at this jam (I guess they were all going through withdrawal after the sleepy August in DC) so, please enjoy the photos of everyone you know, everyone you once knew, everyone you’re hoping to meet and everyone you (maybe) wish you never met:
