Could there have been a bigger party than Repeal Day, December, 5 1933, the day the 21th amendment passed officially ending prohibition? DC Craft Bartenders Guild 7th Annual Repeal Day Ball tapped into the ethos of the past, proofing that history can be a rip-roaring good time. Provided there is a bathtub of gin. Had you ever imagined being blind drunk could be so elegant and debonair? But it is in those little black flapper dressed or tweed vests, the sound of big band swing, the smell of hand rolled cigars, everything drenched in the reflective glory of years gone by. And its also then you realize cocktails are the past’s outstanding gift to us, and you thank your bartender for his craft. Thank you, bartenders. Let the spirit of Repeal Day live on forever.
