What better time to launch a start-up incubator than during the self-appointed #nerdprom weekend in DC? So, this Friday, 1776, which “launched”(into construction if not full use) in February with much media buzz surrounding it, and which you may remember as the site of that HINGE app launch rager, officially made their opening official, with a launch party of their own. In the spirit of WHCD they had Aol founder Steve Case co-hosting and the evening was filled with patriotic-themed desserts, a full bar, and a (brief) thoughtful discussion on immigration, Internet taxes, and startups with Congressman Darrell Issa, plus live music and founders of the 75 start ups which, according to co-founders Donna Harris and Evan Burfield, have signed up to share the co-working space.
