Hi! It was very unclear if last weekend was Halloweekend or this weekend is Halloweekend, but either way, it appears we have landed with the greatest fortune of TWO FLIPPIN’ HALLOWEEKENDS! Whatever you end up doing, I would highly recommend tuning into Freeform for today’s all-day marathon of Hocus Pocus. (#NOTSPON, I just really fucking love that movie.) There is A LOT going on the next couple of the days INCLUDING but not limited to Rocky Horror Picture Show revues (our GIF theme), Dia De Los Muertos parties and MORE! But before we get into all of that, let’s first talk about some REAL GOOD CONTENT you might’ve missed on BYT this week if you were too busy reading Pete Wells’ glorious condemnation of Peter Luger!
- Our Bentzen Ball photos are in! Go look at Tig Notaro and Aparna Nancherla and Maria Bamford and etc. in all their full glory!
- We went to a UFO festival and it was weird!
- “I’m a gorgeous, stupid bitch just trying her best…” A chat w/ the inimitable Cat Cohen!
- I spoke to Julio Torres and Ana Fabrega about Los Espookys and whether or not anything (e)spooky happened while filming! (Hint: according to Cassandra Ciangherotti it did! Maybe!)
- I also asked Joshua Radin if he believes in ghosts! (Hint: he doesn’t, but also doesn’t not!)
- Here’s a Listening Party from Boy Scouts!
- We caught VÉRITÉ’s album release show and it was real good!
Thursday October 31
- I mean, we obviously have to talk about the Halloween Parade, which I do not SUPER recommend, just because 1. hi, claustrophobia, but also 2. IT’S GON’ RAIN.
- To ME, one of the most appropriate things to do is to hit up Littlefield for The Occasionalists’ presentation of The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Revue and Live Karaoke! Tickets are $12-$15.
- Similarly appropriate would be the Halloween (1978) marathon that’s running over the course of three screenings at Syndicated tonight! Tickets are a v. reasonable $7 each.
- And I’m definitely an advocate for popping over to Catland for Black Mirror Salon: A Halloween Tarot Reader Faire ft. reduced-rate short readings and FREE ENTRY!
- Just wanna cut a rug? Get to INFERNO: Halloween at Last Light ft. Eli Escobar and Whitney Fierce! FREE w/ RSVP!
- Meanwhile, House of Yes is hosting 1. Halloween Horrorvaganza ($20-$100), plus WYLD THINGS: Halloween Parade Afterparty ($20-$40)!
- In search of free alcohol? It looks like Noisey Nights at Villain may be just what the doctor ordered! RSVP for free entry.

- Or for a spooOOOOOOoooky twist, catch BackFat Variety’s presentation of Comedians with Ghost Stories! Tickets are $12-$15 each.
